Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying at the club and will not be moving during the summer transfer window.
Ronaldo’s future at United has been a hot topic of discussion this summer, as the Portuguese Superstar had earlier expressed his wish to leave Old Trafford in search of Champions League football.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League clash against Leicester, as quoted by ESPN, Ten Hag said that it is clear that Ronaldo will be staying at the club and said that the team needs quality players moving forward.
“It is clear. We need quality players. You need more to cover all the games to keep the consistency going,” said Ten Hag.
Manchester United on Tuesday reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony for a deal worth 95 million euros, including add-ons. There have been reports in the British media suggesting that the Red Devils are close to completing a deal to sign Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka on loan.
When asked if United will be in the market for more players before the transfer deadline, the Dutch manager said United’s business for the summer seems to be done. However, Ten Hag suggested that United will look to capitalize if an opportunity arises.
“I think [there won’t be any more signings],” Ten Hag said in a news conference on Wednesday.
“It will be the end for this window, but when there is a great opportunity we always have to be alert at this top club.”
Ten Hag also suggested that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to stay at the club and said that this squad will play atleast until the January window without any major changes.
“Of course, Aaron will stay in,” said Ten Hag. “So this squad, we will go from September to a minimum of January and we will play with this squad this season.”
